On Saturday, Dec 17, 2016, several members of the American Legion, Post 104 placed wreaths at the Jackson County Library in memory and in honor of all Veterans. Wreaths were placed on grave sites several ROTC units from area high schools and Ed Harwood received the honor of holding the US flag during the presentations. Linda Nee and Becky Harwood also attended the ceremony and placed wreaths on various gravesites.
The next Honor Flight takes off from Asheville Regional on 13 May 2017. We need veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, or other war veteran and tailored applications for each war are at www.blueridgehonorflight.com. We also need guardians to escort veterans on the flight. Those who have made this journey, to a person, were humbled, honored and touched by the experience.
There is no cost for the veterans; the guardians pay approximately $400. Please help find veterans and guardians (Do not forget to ask your local VFW, American Legion, and Viet Vets organizations). For more information call 828-224-4094 or email blueridgehonorflight@gmail.com.
