Become a Legion Member

The William E. Dillard American Legion, Post 104 is an organization comprised of honorably discharged veterans and active service members from any of the following United States Armed Forces: Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, or Navy. Our annual membership covers the calendar year from January 1 through December 31, with meetings beginning at 1900 hours every second Monday of each month in the Legion Hall at 915 W. Main St. in Sylva, NC.  We encourage our current legionnaires to attend a meeting and involve yourself by helping us assist other veterans and we extend a special invitation to our active-duty military personnel to stop in and visit.

Recruiting

Post recruiting efforts begin in July of each year; however, qualified veterans are free to join at any time.  Early membership renewal allows current members the opportunity of avoiding the loss of any of Legion benefits.  Such as: newspaper and magazine subscriptions, group insurance policies into which the Legionnaire may be participating; including the Accident Insurance policy which pays when a Legionnaire is killed in an accident, while participating in an official legion event, such as: meetings, Honor Guard detail, or fund raising events.

The current dues for the Sylva Post 104 are $35.00 annually as established by the local post once the Department (state) and National organization receive the required membership fees. Post 104 collects annual dues when the veteran joins the Legion and membership is valid until December 31 of the current calendar year

Example: If a veteran obtains membership with Post 104 in the month of April, their membership is active until 31 December of the same year.  Membership renewal begins in the month of October for the upcoming calendar year.
